Cat Nutrition

The cat is an obligate carnivore. Their natural diet (mice, birds) provides not only muscle meat, but also minerals from bones, fiber from fur, and pre-digested plant matter from the prey’s stomach.

A one-sided diet is false economy – high vet bills are often the result of inferior quality.

🥩 Meat (Raw)

Best nutrient utilization. Tip: Freeze at -15°C for 24h beforehand (kills parasites). Large pieces promote dental health.

🐟 Fish (Cooked)

High-quality protein, 2-3 times a week. Important: Only feed cooked/steamed, as raw fish depletes Vitamin B1.

🥛 Milk & Yogurt

Milk is food, not a drink! In case of intolerance (diarrhea), yogurt is a good calcium alternative.

Feeding Methods Compared

BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food)

The healthiest option. However, it requires knowledge of supplementation (Vitamins A, D, E, K & minerals) to prevent deficiency symptoms.

Canned Food (Wet Food)

Practical, but quality is crucial: Min. 90% meat/fish, no flavor enhancers, sugar, or “animal by-products.”

Dry Food (Not Recommended)

Main cause of urinary grit and stones. Dehydrates the body (a 6kg cat would have to drink an additional 350ml!). Often contains addictive attractants.
